What is petunia house?

Sarah, responding to a vision God placed on her heart, left her home in California and purchased a house on Petunia Street in Dallas, Texas. Initially, she and her new roommate, MJ, would invite friends over for worship nights and shared meals, unknowingly laying the foundation for something much greater than themselves. As more people joined, God’s presence moved powerfully, weaving together a community rooted in love, prayer, and deep connection—something reminiscent of the early church described in Acts 2.

The Petunia House exists to cultivate gathering spaces in homes, establishing places of communion with God and one another. Inspired by the example of the early believers, we are devoted to fellowship, sharing meals, praying together, and meeting the needs of those around us. We believe that true belonging isn’t found in a building, but in a family of faith.

As our community has grown beyond the original 1200 sq. ft. house, so has our vision. Now, people are gathering in homes, parks, and public spaces, simply doing life together. Through worship nights, Bible studies, game nights, open table discussions, and everyday moments of connection, we are witnessing the beauty of God’s family expanding.

We stand on the truth of 1 John 1:7: “But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.” The Petunia House is more than a place—it is a movement of radical hospitality, where no one is an outsider, and all are welcomed into the joy of knowing and walking with Jesus.

By God’s grace, what started as a small gathering has become a home for many. And as we continue to grow, our heart remains the same: to create spaces where people encounter the love of Christ, find true belonging, and step into the fullness of God’s family.
